Days 21 – 25: Light At the End of the Tunnel on the Animals!
Haven’t posted progress in a while as we were really busy getting ready for Derek’s first birthday party with lots of cupcake baking and decorating (Seasame Street characters) and then getting the house ready for the party. Now that that is over and done, I am back at the puzzle. Still some slow progress as Derek was sick for a while, hubby was sick for a bit, and now I’ve gotten it too. No fun at all.
Here are some new pics of my progress on the animals. As you can see, it’s mostly just the camel, horse, and donkey left as big animal sections. Hoping to check those off the list by the end of this next week.
I think I will focus on the clownfish next as I know they will be a lot of work since the colors are so much alike on many of the fish. And, I will save the water line area for last. Should be fun! I’m excited about making even further progress soon.

After 4 months we have finally got to the half way stage.
Seem to have lost 1 piece of the butterflies, but enjoying a great sense of achievement now as we prepare to open the third bag.
Ny wife, Mun, started by helping out a little now she seems to be doing more of the puzzle than me.
Ah well boats section for me next as the missus concentrates on the dolphins.
A word about how we are doing this and storing the completed sections.
I first bought a sheet of hardboard from diy store. Cut that into half then one half was halved again while the second half was quartered. This gave us 4 squarish pieces big enough for doing a 1000 piece section. Then when 2 of these sections have been completed they are transferred onto the larger rectangular pieces of hardboard. Then the second larger piece is placed on top and held with bulldog clips while the 2000 piece section is turned upside down. Now I take some lining paper and blue tack it on to the back of the jigsaw. then turn the jigsaw back round the right way, only now it is resting on the lining paper. Then we can pick up the entire jigsaw by picking up the lining paper and this is placed on top of the other completed 2000 piece sections. so now we have 6 of these sections one on top of the other all resting on its own lining paper.
Right have to go, got another 6000 pieces to sort out.

Hi Peter! Thanks for the update on your efforts with the puzzle. It must be nice to be halfway done! I am close to being halfway done with section 1 which I'm thrilled about. Will post new pics soon.
Well the day has finally arrived…….yep completion day. happenned at 6 minutes past 10 in the evening of 6 june 2011. Congratulations to the wife who certainly did the lions share (hangs head in shame) and congratulations to our 2 year old….remember i told you we lost a piece, well last month we noticed our 2 year old with a piece of the jigsaw, arrgghhh get off that, don't lose it…..then we realised with astonishment that it was the same piece we lost 2 months previous, and we haven't a clue where he found it!
So all pieces present and correct. We have since moved house and now the jigsaw is sitting safely under the sofa in 12 2000 piece sections waiting for glueing and mounting in pride of place on our wall…..only problem is that the wall is too short, by 3 inches! so we will have to have in turn a corner, should be fun trying to glue and mount this together…..
wifey is now bored in the evenings and has already started looking for another puzzle to do. showed her the 32,000 piece monstrosity that ravensburger have made and she agrees with me, absolutely no fun in putting that together.
so come on ravensburger and/or educa, lets have a puzzle worth putting together.
I will try to photograph the glueing together and mounting bit which we hope to do next week.

I have not worked on the puzzle in months, unfortunately. My son is now at the age where he could and certainly WOULD pull it off the dining room table. So therefore, I haven't been able to pull it out in quite some time. We are also in the process of moving to Atlanta. My goal is to try to get a basement in the next house that will allow me to put the puzzle down there in a room he does not have access to so that I can leave it up without fear of it getting demolished.
