Dear Flu Virus....I Hate You!...Love, Penny

Well as the title of this post implies, I have been sick since Tuesday with a really nasty cold / flu virus. It's now Friday afternoon and I'm still feeling pretty lousy. And the best part is that because I'm 14 weeks pregnant, the doctor doesn't think I need any sort of medication to get rid of what seems to me like bronchitis. He said my lungs sounded clear...how, I don't know when I practically cough up my lungs every few minutes, but who am I to argue with someone who has spent a little longer in medical school than I....LOL

Anyway, this results in an even sadder admission...I have barely touched the puzzle this week at all. I finally went down to the puzzle room this morning, sat in my chair, and basically stared at the puzzle for a good 45 minutes. I think I might have placed about 3 pieces in that time period. Mostly I just looked at the puzzle and willed the pieces to move...much to my disappointment, they didn't move a darn inch. Stupid pieces! :o)

So here's a couple of pictures...there's really not much progress to be seen here except for a little more of the coral added. Hopefully I will start feeling better soon and can attack this thing head on next week. Thanks for reading. Happy Friday!

Not Such A Bad Idea Afterall

I have to say that I'm now happy that I gave the clownfish a break and started working on some of the other fish and coral on the last 1/3rd of the puzzle because I have made some good progress. All the other fishes are either complete or mostly complete now, and some of the easier colors of coral are finished as well.

I am posting a picture or two below to show the progress, although I have made even more since these pictures were taken a couple of days ago. I think I'm down to maybe a 1,000 pieces give or take a few! I am so excited. My goal of finishing section 1 before baby 2 arrives is well within reach and I couldn't be more elated. If I can keep up this pace then I will finish well before August. Hip Hip Hooray!

Now the bigger question is....if I finish before August...do I start section 2? LOL I think I will be so excited about finishing the first section that I will want to immediately start working on the next one. I also need to figure out what I'm going to do with the completed section while working on the next section. Some people had good success working the second section directly on top of the first as it was the same cut pattern so it helped them to identify which piece went where, but I can't imagine that being easy on the eyes. I am going to give it a try, but I have a feeling I won't be able to go it with my eyes for very long. And if that's the case, I've got to figure out how to turn the completed section over so I can put contact paper on the back and be able to move it off the puzzle board so I can start the 2nd section. Ahh, decisions....decisions....

Anyway, here's the pictures. Enjoy, and thanks again for reading!

I Did A Bad, Bad Thing...

I was frustrated with my lack of progress on the clownfish because they're such a pain so I decided to give myself a little break and work on something else for a little while.  I am happy to report that I have been much more successful in piecing together some of the other fish and one of the coral beds over the last couple of days.  It feels good having gotten something accomplished that I can see immediately will make a big impact.

So, I guess it could be worse....I could have given up on the puzzle altogether (which I wouldn't do), but I decided to just take a break from the clownfish for a little while and work on "lower hanging fruit" as my husband is fond of saying.  At least when I have this done, I will be able to see even more progress which will motivate me to go back to the clownfish.

Here's a couple of pictures of what I've done the last couple of days.

Miscellaneous Pieces Found

I am now really regretting not having tackled the clownfish sooner...wow, they are really not easy. There's too many fish with the same coloring and it's making it really difficult to know what goes where. Learned my lesson...I will start with the underwater city on Section 4 FIRST! :)

Anyway, even though I haven't made great progress with the fish so far, I am happy to report that I did go back through my remaining pieces and discovered most of the miscellaneous pieces that I was missing in the the top 2/3rds of the puzzle. A couple of pieces of grass under the cheetah, the foot of the penguin sitting on the alligator's head, etc. I now only have a few pieces scattered here and there left to find, but I'm not worried about them. I think they will turn up eventually. Although, I would truly be FLOORED if I make it all the way to the end of this section without having lost any pieces. This puzzle has gone through some rough times and has been worked on in many different rooms in two different houses...so my chances are probably not the best for coming out of it fully intact, but we'll see. I am holding my breath and crossing my fingers that I'm able to somehow find every last piece. Hmmm...maybe that's why it's been so difficult to make progress with the clownfish....held breath and crossed fingers. LOL I will be posting another picture soon of the progress...when I actually make some! LOL Thanks for reading! Penny

And It All Comes Down To This

Okay, I've finally gotten the pictures taken to bring everyone up to speed as to where I am now with the puzzle. I finished the mountains between the animals and hot air balloons. Just a couple of pieces here and there that haven't been found yet, but I'm sure they will turn up eventually. Here's a couple of pictures of the completed mountain range.

And now it all comes down to the clownfish...like I said in an earlier post, they are a huge pain in the arse, but they are so colorful and pretty that it kind of makes it worth it, right? At least that's what I keep telling myself anyway. LOL

Alright, back to work on these silly fish...thanks for reading!
